She stood atop a hill, no one could compare with her
Countless suitors passed. But only one man, wise and true she loved

Angered, Khan made a decree: “When the sun touched land and sea”
He'll choose a groom to Katun'

But Katun's heart could not bear that fate father's choice
She ran away from the father's home before the sun rose
When Altai awoke and saw his daughter ran away
He said that first who bring her back will marry her the day

The servant chased after her with all their might
She ran so fast, she'd not give up without a fight

She transformed into a river, swift and free to sway
And turning into a river too, Biy rushed toward Katun'
As a symbol of undying love they've merged into a river Ob'
